About the design of the Canto Collection

Canto Hooligan Collection is not just a book, it is a concept, more than a book for sure.

The cover has always been a headache to me and my designer. How to present it properly and precisely is the question I keep asking. Maybe you will it interesting where the dolls keep fighting with pens in the Slang series, fighting with mouth and battle with pens (口誅筆伐) is the source of inspiration.

And then we come to the Dicktionary series, where the swear words are sort of taboo. So you will see the dolls have their mouths covered. Disaster comes from the mouth (禍從口出) and so we have to cover it unless you open the bookcover.

Now we come to another new series, the so-called Canto Superstition series, and actually I treat it as a serious studies which guide our future. The dolls have their eyes covered this time, they know nothing about their future unless you unblind them.
